Educator of the Year

Welcome to the new Educator of the Year (EOY) and First Year Educator of the Year (FYEOY) page. Through this online system, applicants can submit nominations electronically. As a nominator, you will be able to save your work and return at a later date to complete and submit. Please note: Applications must be submitted to be eligible for the award.

Background: NISD is proud to recognize the outstanding work of our educators. Therefore, each year, campuses across the district have the opportunity to nominate one EOY and one FEOY, if applicable. Eligible first year educators are in their first calendar year in the education profession.

The Educator of the Year Selection Committee will select candidates to represent NISD for each of the following categories:

1. Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching

2. Educator of the Year – Elementary – (PK-5)

3. Educator of the Year – Middle School – (6-8)

4. Educator of the Year – High School – (9-12)

5. First Year Educator of the Year – Elementary – (PK-5)

6. First Year Educator of the Year – Secondary – Middle (6-8)

7. First Year Educator of the Year – Secondary – High (9-12)

The Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching nominee is the educator with the highest score in the EOY category. This nominee will proceed to the regional competition for the Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching Award. An EOY award recipient will also be nominated for the regional competition for the Texas State Teacher of the Year award. Previous NISD award winners have also been honored with regional, state, and national recognitions!

Campus Committee: Campuses should develop a nomination committee or establish a campus-wide peer voting process to select nominees for both categories. All campuses should nominate an EOY. Campuses with beginning teachers who are truly exceptional are strongly encouraged to submit a FYEOY application. When completing applications, use specific examples to illustrate how the nominee demonstrates exceptional dedication and commitment to the profession as an exemplary educator. It is recommended that campus administration nominate their educator/s.

Early submissions are highly encouraged. Applications submitted after the deadline will be recognized at the district ceremony, however will not be eligible to compete in any of the categories.
